Sing: Thriller is a short based on the movie Sing and its sequel, Sing 2, and is themed for the Halloween season. And while it is okay, this is something I would expect to see as an extra for a DVD release or Halloween Short compilation with other Illumination movie shorts than a Netflix exclusive. In this short, themed around Michael Jackson song Thriller, Buster Moon has their Halloween musical. However, afterwards, when the crew go to Clay's Halloween party, Buster Moon sees a news report of a mysterious goo covering the ground after a laboratory explosion. And this goo turns the citizens into zombies who has the urge to dance. Yeah, this is an okay short, but not one I feel is worthy of being a Netflix film. The one plus to this is that they got some of the actors from the movies to reprise their roles (Matthew McConaughy as Buster Moon, Scarlett Johannson as Ash, Taron Egerton as Johnny, and Tori Kelly as Meena, among examples), while the other characters appear in non-speaking roles. However, the short suffers for being what it is. At 11 minutes, this feels more like it belongs as part of a DVD collection of Illumination's other Halloween shorts based on their animated films rather than as an exclusive to a streaming service like Netflix, as the special feels more like a music video since it is to the tune of the Michael Jackson song. It's okay, and worth watching if you are a fan of the Sing movies or Michael Jackson, but other may want to seek out other movies that are longer and have an actual story.

Sing: Thriller, directed by Garth Jennings and starring Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey, offers an imaginative reimagining of the iconic "Thriller" music video, this time brought to life by the animated cast of Sing. The clever twist of splitting Michael Jackson's legendary vocals among the different characters adds a fresh and creative layer to the experience. Each character's unique voice and personality complements the eerie, yet upbeat vibe of Thriller, giving the performance a lively and fun ensemble feel. Johansson's sultry, rock-infused tones blend effortlessly with McConaughey's charismatic and smooth delivery, while the rest of the cast joins in to create a dynamic harmony. Jennings masterfully balances the nostalgia of the original video with the playful energy of the Sing universe, making it feel both familiar and original. Fans of both Sing and Michael Jackson will appreciate this clever crossover, where the unmistakable beats of Thriller. A fun, inventive tribute to the King of Pop! Voices.

I just finished watching Sing: Thriller (2024) and it is a fun little Halloween short for the kids to watch. Positives for Sing: Thriller (2024): I surprisingly had fun with this short especially since I'm not crazy about the two Sing movies. It was cool to see these characters sing to Michael Jackson's Thriller. This short is perfect to get the family into the Halloween season. And finally, the short is only 11 minutes and you can get through it with no problem. Negatives for Sing: Thriller (2024): While I certainly liked this Halloween short, it's not something that I would go back and rewatch every Halloween. A lot of that is probably because I'm not into the Sing movies. Also, this short does the cliche that a lot of movies and shows do a lot of times and make experience a dream sequence and as we all know we hate dream sequences. Overall, Sing Thriller (2024) is a fun little short for the kids to enjoy during the Halloween season.

Good to finally watch the show from the audience point of view. Great parody of Michael Jackson's Thriller along with choreography from original music video. Clearly much work when into making this look and feel right. Did I hear an audience audience participation? "Is anyone there?", "I'm here". Maybe next parody should be Rocky Horror Picture Show? I have commented on before but will say again I would have paid extra to watch Sing 1 & 2 stage show from the the audience point of view. Just wonder how much extra work it would have taken to watch whole performance without cutting away to progress the plot of the movie.
