On November 5, 2022, Dmitry “Super” Bivol defended his WBA light heavyweight title in a dominant 12-round performance against Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The fight headlined Matchroom Boxing’s “Champion Series” and was streamed live worldwide on DAZN. Despite facing a physically larger, undefeated former super middleweight champion, Bivol controlled the action. After a close start, the champion systematically broke down Zurdo’s offense, landing crisp jabs, sharp right hands, and unleashing flurries in the middle rounds. Bivol remained composed, dictating distance, nullifying Ramirez’s size advantage, and taking over after round five. The judges saw it clearly: 118–110, 117–111, 117–111, a wide unanimous decision for Bivol—improving his record to 21‑0 while giving Ramirez the first career loss at 44‑1. The victory reinforced Bivol’s reputation as an elite, technical powerhouse and positioned him among the top pound-for-pound fighters of 2022. 📍 Date: November 5, 2022 📍 Location: Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, UAE 🏆 Title: WBA Light Heavyweight Championship 🎥 Relive the highlights of Bivol vs. Zurdo Ramirez—watching a master at work as he dismantles a feared challenger with precision and poise.
