General Yun Ying, renowned across the land, refuses all rewards from the emperor, longing to return to her hometown for her beloved sister. Upon her departure, her deputy, Kang Ping, learns that Yun Ying is actually a woman. Years later, Mu Yunge returns home to find her sister being forced into marriage by her stepmother. After saving her, Mu Yunge is unexpectedly rejected by the scholar Xie Shiyan, who reveals his heart belongs to General Yun Ying. Furious, Mu Yunge gives Xie Shiyan back all his gifts. Their paths cross again during a martial arts competition, where Mu Yunge, disguised as a man, defends her country from invading forces. Later, she establishes a school for women and becomes the first female official, partnering with Xie Shiyan to create an era of peace.
