On June 14, 2025, at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City, rising Cuban sensation Andy “Diamante” Cruz faced Japan’s rugged challenger Hironori Mishiro in a high-stakes IBF Lightweight title eliminator—with a shot at the world title on the line. Cruz controlled the action from the opening bell, showcasing fluid footwork, sharp combos, and relentless precision. By the third round, he had Mishiro on unsteady legs and dropped him twice, highlighting the gap in speed and timing. Despite Mishiro’s resilience, Cruz methodically dismantled his offense. In round 5, he landed a perfectly-timed straight right followed by flurries that forced the referee to stop the fight at 1:13, earning Cruz a dominant TKO victory and punching his ticket to a world title shot. 📍 Date: June 14, 2025 📍 Location: Madison Square Garden Theatre, New York City, USA 🏆 Result: Cruz wins by 5th-round TKO 🏆 Stakes: IBF Lightweight World Title Eliminator This was a breakout moment for Andy Cruz, proving that his polished amateur pedigree is translating precisely into the pro ranks.
