An effectively timed block can make or break a rally on the beach. Jake Gibb, 4x Olympian for U.S. Men’s Beach National Team, helps coaches and athletes master this elusive skill by breaking it down into four steps: identify the hitter’s route, maximize depth in your jump, avoid jumping too early, and have quick arms. Gibbs exhibits these steps, while providing feedback to NTDP training series athletes. 00:00 - Introduction to Blocking 00:22 - A New Blocking Concept: The Blocker Acts Last 01:21 - The Goal: Cause Hesitation 01:46 - Step 1: Identify the Hitter's Root 03:11 - Step 2: Use Depth to Stay Hidden 04:13 - Step 3: Master Your Timing 05:10 - Step 4: Make Up Time With Your Arms 06:18 - On-Court Blocking Drills 11:54 - Final Takeaways & Recap
